The Four Noble Truths
Tuesdays, 7–8:30pm
July 6th
“There is suffering”
This is intended to be an honest look at the real nature of our lives in Samsara. Specifically, the section on page 288 of Joyful Path of Good Fortune-birth, aging, sickness, death, having to part with what we like, having to encounter what we do not like and failing to satisfy our desires.
July 13th
“Why is there suffering?”
An honest look at the real cause of suffering-delusions! How they disturb our minds and how they cause us to act in harmful ways. Also, how they cause us to believe that our problems are the people and events outside of us.
July 20th
“Can suffering be removed?”
All the faults we see in people are actually the faults of their delusions, not of the people themselves! Delusions are not an intrinsic part of the mind, they can be removed. When our mind is free from delusions it is always peaceful.
Aug 10th
“The path to freedom”
What changes have to be made to remove suffering? Understanding that we must train our mind and oppose our delusions with virtuous minds.
