~ Our Centre and Community ~

The Joyful Land Buddhist Centre is located in central Ottawa on Somerset Street West. Established in 1996 under the guidance of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Centre has a beautiful meditation room where evening and weekend classes, pujas, and retreats are held. There is shared community space for people to get to know each other. The Dharma shop carries all of Geshe Kelsang's books, as well as posters, postcards and ritual items.
The Joyful Land community is a mix of individuals of all ages and backgrounds, some new to Buddhism others experienced in the Dharma. The common thread which knits these individuals together is a caring and loving nature combined with an interest in learning about Buddhist practice and how to make our lives happier and more meaningful.

Concentrated study is offset by more relaxed gatherings before or after class, or at monthly community lunches where discussion often leads down interesting paths.
Joyful Land Buddhist Centre is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union. The Centre is a registered Canadian charity (Charitable Reg. Number 88586/6293RR0001) run entirely by volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, whether to help out for 10 minutes before a class or to take on a longer assignment, there are many opportunities. Please contact us at info@meditateinottawa.com to see how you can contribute. All help is welcome and appreciated.
